About the Balaton Tourism Research Centre
Tourism research is an important activity of the Department of Tourism (Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pannonia). The Balaton Tourism Research Centre (BATUKI) – in the framework of this faculty – aims at supporting decision-making and future work of stakeholders by synthetizing available information and by conducting new researches. Being as an education-research unit of the university, the centre’s main goals is to become a significant actor of Lake Balaton tourism.
The main objectives are:
- Conducting researches about the Lake Balaton tourism (tourism development plans, strategies, product analysis, image research etc.),
- Cooperation with the involved stakeholders of the Lake Balaton, including the university’s Hungarian and international partners,
- Integration of tourism research into the education (curricula/courses, students’ direct involvement in researches, dissertations),
- ’Knowledge centre’ based on the relevant information about the Lake Balaton as a tourism destinations (online communication channel),
- Increasing the awareness and strengthening the reputation of the University of Pannonia in Hungary and abroad.
University students are invited to participate actively in the centre’s research activities which includes desk research, elaborating research plan, data collecting and analysing.
