Academic objectives

The aim of the programme is to expand the already acquired knowledge and skills in the fields of economy, social theories, applied economics and methodology enabling students to plan and analyze the various processes of business organizations and institutions and to direct and organize the business and entrepreneurial activities. Graduates will acquire knowledge and skills enabling them to: apply theoretical knowledge in practice, continue their studies at Master’s Levels.

  • Knowledge, learning

Graduates possess a well-founded professional background knowledge regarding microeconomy.
Know and understand: the basic concepts of economy, its major concepts, the most important factors of economy and methods used to influence them, the resources and components of production, its main principles, planning, analysing, evaluating tools and methods, the principles and methods of managing and operating economic processes, the justifications and methods of establishing the structure of organisations and on the other hand the organisational behaviour and the other.

Graduates possess the expertise related to the basic operation of organisations such as strategic planning, marketing, finance, controlling, HR management,logistics, economic analysis, change, decision-making, communication, organisational development, project management. Their industrial economic and management expertise enable them to work individually in different subdivisions of an organisation.

Graduates have a reliable expertise in their specialisation, and well-founded practical skills.
As a result of their theoretical and practical knowledge, graduates can continue their studies at master level if they fulfil some additional requirements.

  • Abilities (applying theories)

Based on their studies and skills graduates, will be able to fulfil positions at companies that require their qualification;
use problem solving techniques when preparing decision-making; communicate in an effective way (in foreign languages and by using IT technologies) at home and in foreign business environment as well use negotiation, presentation and debating techniques and gathering information handling business activities with complex IT solutions in a creative way, also judging the applicability of different Internet solutions; able to learn new competencies, adopt to environmental changes and self-development in his career by evaluating earlier experience and taking part in trainings continuously.

  • Skills (professional attitudes and behaviour)

Cooperation, ability to become valuable part of an organisation and possessing the adequate behavioural norms enabling them to fulfil their role in the organisation.
A sense of responsibility based on the economic and social effects of organisational and institutional performance, critical-analytical skills, success-oriented and value based attitude and the inclination for self-reflection.

The organisational and decision-making abilities are combined with a great sense of quality, adopt themselves to various organisational culturespossess the ability for innovation and thinking within an existing structure, able to obtain information in an instant from a large database and finally
set up a list of priorities concerning the management and leadership tasks.
Their personal attributes, abilities, skills and the way they fulfil expectations nable them to become leaders of business organisations in economic and management positions.

 

Language competencies

The language of tuition of the BA in Business Administration and Management is English. An advanced command of English is necessary to complete the course. The curriculum does not include language courses and therefore the students are responsible to address any shortcomings in their language skills. Area specific language skills are developed through engagement with the modules delivered in English.

 

Internship

Students complete their obligatory internship outside the university.

Students are allowed to do their internship at any organizations that have business activities similar to that of the Management and Business Administration program and where highly qualified professionals are needed to fulfil the manager positions.
The duration of the internship is 4 months (or the equivalent number of full working hours). Students acquire 30 credit points for the internship.
Part time students are exempt from completing the internship in case by the time of their final exams an at least two-month long work experience can be officially proved at a company with related business activities.
The organisation of internship is regulated by a separate quality assurance policy.

Study duration in the model curriculum: 7 semesters (including 1 semester internship)
The minimum number of classes for the whole duration of studies: 5400 contact hours: in full-time course 1860 (language courses are not included), in
part-time course 620.
Total number of credits: 180 (+30)

 

Qualification

The title of the bachelor level program: Business Administration and Management
Level of education: BA (bachelor)
Qualification and description of degree: Economist in Business Administration and Management.
Description of competencies in the degree certificate: BA in Business Administration and Management.
