IV. INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON TOURISM AND SECURITY

The Nagykanizsa Campus of the University of Pannonia, the Foundation for Higher Education in Kanizsa, the Police Science Council, the Hungarian Association of Police Science, the Working Committee of the Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Geography of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Tourism Agency organize an international scientific conference as IV. INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON TOURISM AND SECURITY.

Date: 3 (Tuesday) December 2019, 9.30 am
Location: Hotel Karos SPA++++ superior, 1. Alma street, Zalakaros 8749

The aim of the conference is to make the most recent domestic and international results in tourism, security and tourism security accessible to the expert audience and provide an opportunity to connect professionals and researchers working in the industry. The purpose of the event is to facilitate the acquisition of publishing and presentations for young researchers and PhD students. We kindly invite the representatives of the government sector, the staff of the higher education institutions, all the colleagues and experts interested in the topic.

The International Programme at the Austrian FH JOANNEUM University continue in 2020

The Austrian FH JOANNEUM University is offering a new “International Programme” at their Bad Gleichenberg campus for the Spring semester of 2020. All academic institutes at their campus in the spa town of Bad Gleichenberg (one hour from the main campus in Graz) contribute to the programme by offering some of their regular courses in English to accommodate international students from health and tourism studies:

– “Health in Tourism Management”

– “Dietetics”

– “Occupational Therapy”.

Exchange students can choose courses from all of the three institutes contributing to the programme.

This allows for a wide range of general and specific classes that students from the University of Pannonia can choose from. Have a look at the attached brochure and see how their “International Programme” may fit you!

 

Of course, they run a “Buddy” programme as well as tandem learning opportunities for incoming students. Accommodation is at a very pleasant, modern dorm within 5 minutes’ walk from the campus.

 

Please note that a different range of courses is offered in the fall and spring semesters.

The nomination deadline for the Spring semester 2020 is the 1st of November, 2019.

Get speaking!

If you want to learn what makes a great speaker, build your confidence and improve your public speaking skills, join American Corner Veszprém’s FREE, 10-part public speaking training for youth.

This weekly program will not only improve your communication skills in English but also give you valuable knowledge and experience that will come in handy at school and at your future workplace, too.

The course runs between September 24 and December 3, 2019 (skipping October 29). Sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, 4:00pm-5:30pm, in American Corner Veszprém.

ValueGallery

On the second floor of the Faculty of Business and Economics on September 1, 2019, another open exhibition called ValueGallery will be added to the everyday life of university citizens and visitors.

The main objective of the exhibition is the widespread formation or preparation of Veszprém and Bakony-Balaton area with known terminology, cultural and economic sensitivities and presentations, thus expanding our local knowledge.

The theme of the first occasion is the St. Stephen’s Valley Bridge, the Viaduct of Veszprém, celebrating its 80th birthday this year.

The “Viaduct – Once and Today” repository will be open from September 5 to December 20, 2019 at 10 University Street, 2nd floor of Building “A”.

The Faculty of Business an Economics offers a new German language subject

Landeskunde der DACH / Länder aus touristicher Perspektive – available as an optional subject in the Fall 2019 semester (You will find it with the code VEGTTUB512O on the NEPTUN system).

Prerequisite is that you have at least an Intermediate German language exam!

The aim of the course is to introduce the tourism and economy, and the current issues related to these fields in the German speaking countries.

 

Fields of study:

– Introduction of the German speaking countries – population, geographical features, economy and its characteristics. The political system of the countries and their national symbols.
– The environmental, social and economic impacts of tourism (climate change, environmentally friendly transport, overconsumption)
– The role of NGOs in the society and in tourism. The most important organizations and activities (for example: Greenpeace, green movements)
– Economic migration: the role of immigrants in the tourism industry of the German speaking countries, and its restrictions.
– The most famous German products, brands and companies in tourism and other businesses which are known and available in Hungary as well.
– The most important cities, attractions and sights in the German speaking countries.
– Leisure activities and travelling habits of the inhabitants in the German speaking countries
– Cultural life, events in the German speaking countries.
– Traditional meals, typical ingredients and dishes in the German speaking countries. Eating habits. The impact of lifestyle changes on modern cuisine.

Wine Week study tour Veszprém, 7-13. October, 2019.

WinelabAutumn 2019, the University of Pannonia hosts the Wine Week study tour with the participation of Italian and Hungarian university students, lecturers and professionals involved in wine tourism.

The five day programme includes lectures and field visits focusing on wine and gastronomy tour-ism in Veszprém and in the surroundings

The official language of the Wine Week is English, participants receive a certification after it.
