This year, the Department of Tourism received the Most Innovative Course Award at the Faculty of Business and Economics for their Integrated Tourism Experiential Learning (ITTT) program.

The goal of ITTT is to help students develop in real-world settings by involving professionals, fostering a comprehensive and multifaceted view of tourism. The program’s innovative methods and practical focus ensure that young people gain not only theoretical knowledge but also applicable experiences. The recognition reflects both the program’s success and the team’s collaborative effort.

The department also thanks cooperating tourism service providers for actively participating in study trips and enriching future tourism professionals with valuable knowledge and experience. It’s especially rewarding to reconnect with alumni in several places, now as experienced professionals.

“Call for applications for the “Study Scholarships for International Students” for the spring semester of the academic year 2024/2025”

The University of Pannonia opens applications/ semester for full-time self-financed international students .

The aim of the application is to provide financial support to continue the studies for students with a weighted grade point average of at least 3.00.

The scholarship will be awarded through a call for applications published by the University of Pannonia for up to 30 international students per semester.

The amount of the scholarship to be awarded:

• BA/BSc students: 110.000.- HUF/semester
• MA/MSC students 185.000.- HUF/ semester
• PhD students: 300 000 HUF/ semester

At the invitation of our faculty, Professor Jim Brodzinski and his wife, Professor Elaine Crable, spent a week at the University of Pannonia on April 25-29, 2022. between.

Professor Jim Brodzinski (SPHR ​Dean (ret.), College of Business, Valparaiso University​) gave extremely useful and interesting lectures on April 28, 29 and 30, 2022 as part of the Global Leadership course. Our master’s students took part in the course.

Professor Elaine (Professor Business Analytics /Information Systems, Co-Director International Business, Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio) Crable gave a lecture on April 29, 2022, entitled “Globally Connected Education Experiences through a Virtual Immersion Experience (An Introduction to How to Set Up a Virtual Academic Immersion on a Global Scale)”.

Our guest speakers participated in several roundtable discussions on the management, strategic and operational issues of American and Hungarian higher education, economics / business, and AACSB accreditation.

In their free time, they explored the sights of Veszprém and the surrounding area, visited Tihany, Balatonfüred, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, and took part in sightseeing and cultural programs in Veszprém.

The University of Pannonia has partnered with Flex on a government supported research project to improve the performance and reliability of solder technology used in automotive parts production and performance-critical products.

The project entitled ’Flux-minimized Soldering for High Voltage Automotive Products’ is co-funded by Flex, The University of Pannonia and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM), at a cost of  HUF 1,339,723,068. Its goal is to develop a new type of soldering technology to improve the performance and reliability in high-voltage electronic products like to those used in hybrid and autonomous vehicles.

“The reliability of high-voltage electronic assemblies can be affected by a number of factors”, says Dr. Attila Lukács, Engineering Manager at Flex in Zalaegerszeg.  “We are working with the University of Pannonia to develop a more reliable commercial solution that meets technical, economic and environmental requirements by creating a high-quality solder joint without flux or a minimal amount of flux.”

Flux is a chemical agent used in the soldering process that helps the solder flow onto the work surface to complete a joint. However, it can leave a residue behind that can affect performance, particularly in high-voltage electronic assemblies like those used in the automotive sector.

“Our goal is to meet the growing market demand for an alternative solution”, says Dr. István Szalai, Professor from The University of Pannonia. “Working with Flex, one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and their Failure Analysis laboratory in Zalaegerszeg brings significant intellectual value and commercial know-how to this venture.”

Addressing the issues of ionic contamination from flux residues, ion migration, material precipitation, creep currents, and so on, will require the team to investigate solutions including surface cleaning and activation with atmospheric pressure plasma. This collaboration is important for the competitiveness of the region and supports the growing automotive sector in Hungary.

• The rector and chancellor of the University of Pannonia hereby inform the citizens of the University of Pannonia with respect to the state of emergency announced by the Hungarian government on March 11th 2020:
• Students of the University of Pannonia are not allowed to visit the reading-rooms of the Central Library and Archives (CLA-Veszprém) and of the Georgikon Library and Archives (GLA-Keszthely) starting from March 12th 2020 for an indefinite period of time. To facilitate learning, borrowing books is still allowed but students are advised to contact the library in writing in advance so that the borrowing procedure should be as smooth and swift as possible.
• Employees of the University are allowed to visit and use the services of the library during the shutdown period.
• The loan period of books that would expire after March 12th 2020 will be extended until June 30th
• Students participating in dual study programmes are allowed to accomplish their external pratical training in case their workplace does not prohibit this.
• Student ID’s validated with a 2019/2020 1st semester sticker will be accepted by transportation services after March 31st 2020 up to 15 days after the termination of the state of emergency caused by the virus outbreak.
• Personal office routines concerning study matters are temporarily The Neptun system is continuously fully operational. Our Directorate of Academic Affairs is available for all students for office routines via telephone and on line.

The rector and chancellor of the University of Pannonia hereby issue the following decree with respect to the state of emergency announced by the Hungarian government on March 11th 2020:

• We order a special break for teaching activities for the days of Thursday and Saturday, March 12-14th 2020.
• We order a special spring break between March 16-21th. We call our students not to travel abroad during this spring break if possible but they are to stay at their places of residence.
• Students are not permitted on campus starting from March 12th 2020 until the withdrawal of the current order.
• Student with a Hungarian citizenship are to leave the dormitories not later than 16:00 o’clock on Friday, March 13th 2020.
• International students are permitted to continuously stay in the dormitories.
• In the upcoming days, the leadership of the university will determine under what circumstances and in what forms teaching is permitted to commence starting from March 23rd 2020.
• All faculty and staff of the university are to continue their work on campus.
• Starting from today, no event on the university campuses regardless of the number of participants will be permitted to take place until further notice, all previously issued permits for any events are hereby withdrawn.

We are certain that you are full of great ideas and interesting initiatives that we and the citizens of Veszprém would appreciate. You may be aware that Veszprém is bidding for the European Capital of Culture 2023 title and within the framework of this project you have the opportunity to introduce yourselves and your nations and your cultures. We are planning to organise a Multinational Culinary Event, staged in the main square (Óváros tér) in Veszprém, where you and your friends from the same nation could prepare your favourite national dishes and let the local citizens taste them. It would be great if you could also wear the traditional costumes of your country, or perform a traditional dance, or play on a musical instrument typical of your country etc.

We are looking for small groups of 3-5 students from the same nation. Everything you may need will be provided, just please let us know. We need the following information:

• Captain of the group (name and e-mail address):

• Nationality of the group:
• Recipe of the food (please indicate how many people it could serve):
• All ingredients you need:
• Equipment you need (pots, fireplace, blender, utensils, etc):
